Questions and Answers about our banking solution abakusBT

Here, we clarify all relevant questions regarding abakusBT. If you are interested in abakusRE, jump to the sections..

Does abakusBT constitute an outsourcing arrangement?

In the manufacturer's assessment, based on the implementation of operations, data storage, and access options, this does not constitute an outsourcing of banking services. (This is our current assessment based on our knowledge of MaRisk and represents neither a legally audited statement nor a recommendation. The actual and relevant assessment is the responsibility of the respective credit institution.)

Where is the software operated and where is the data stored?

That is entirely in your hands. We provide the standard software and continue to develop it; you take care of the installation, operation, and data storage (with our support if necessary). We do not offer external hosting for abakusBT.

Who has access to abakusBT?

Only you and your employees authorized via the user management system have access to abakusBT. There is no possibility for the manufacturer to access your installation.

What does the license model look like?

We use what is known as a floating license model (also Concurrent User Licenses), which allows the software to be installed on any number of computers while limiting use to a specific number of simultaneous users. A central server manages the license pool; when a program is closed, the license is released. This offers high flexibility, cost savings for shared usage, and is ideal for teamwork.

Is abakusBT/highQ ISO-certified?

The manufacturer of abakusBT, highQ Computerlösungen GmbH, is certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001.

Which databases are supported?

abakusBT is independent of any specific database system or manufacturer. Usually, existing in-house database systems can be utilized by abakusBT. To set up the data structure on the database, we provide our database assistant, which allows you to create the required tables and configure the database connection used by abakusBT. The following databases are supported:

  • Oracle
  • MS SQL Server
  • MySQL

What are the system requirements?

abakusBT is very efficient in its resource requirements:

  • 1 GB database storage
  • 100 MB for the program installation
  • 100 MB RAM per client or terminal server session
  • Optional: 10 GB disk space for construction progress photos

Can abakusRE be used without abakusBT?

The property holder module abakusRE is an optional module for abakusBT and is fully integrated into the main abakusBT program for existing customers. However, abakusRE was designed in such a way that it can also be operated independently of abakusBT. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested.

How does the installation of abakusRE work?

For existing customers, the installation takes place as part of a regular abakusBT version update. After purchasing the license, you will receive a license file required to activate abakusRE. Only a release process for the software update is necessary.

For a new installation, we are happy to provide the corresponding installation instructions.

Which interfaces does abakusRE have?

The abakusRE module does not have any separate interfaces. However, similar to abakusBT, there is a connection to Excel, Word, and LibreOffice.

Can existing projects from abakusBT be transferred to the property holder module abakusRE?

In addition to managing pure property holder assets, abakusRE also offers the possibility to manage mixed-use projects (property holder assets with a construction component and project development objects). Existing abakusBT objects can be transferred from a "property developer object" to a "mixed-use object."

In this mode, functions from both abakusBT and abakusRE are then available.

How does abakusRE handle personal data?

In abakusRE, the focus is on commercially used properties. The recording of lease agreements for private individuals is not intended here, as this would involve a disproportionately high level of effort. Furthermore, determining cluster risks for private tenants is not considered useful. Consequently, tenant data is not checked by the automatic anonymization function.

If a credit institution still wishes to record private lease agreements, we recommend recording them only as a total sum to keep the workload low (e.g., grouping them under a single tenant named "Private Rentals" without providing personal data for individual tenants).
